Dark Infantry - (Concept by Jakub Rozalski, 1920+)

(Student Project)
Here's my take on the character "Dark Infantry" by Jakub Rozalski. Link to Jakubs painting: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/z5Vz6 . The character was created for Virtual Production inside of Unreal Engine and was part of a research project for Luleå Technical University. Me and 5 other students all recieved a small grant to create characters and a world based on Rozalskis' work. So I spent around 2 months trying to interpret, design and build this character from scratch. I had some limitations design wise when creating the stilts for the character since they had to work seamless with motion capture. So some deviations from the original concept had to be made for it to work. Reference can be found on the fifth slide from the top.

Poly/Tricount for infantry soldier: 43000 quads/ 85000 tris
Poly/Tricount for mechanical stilts: 58000 quads / 110000 tris

The video from Vimeo is all filmed in realtime using Unreal Engine and the rest of the videos/images on this page are all rendered using Redshift.
